Gold Standard Training
Train with us to be a Counsellor at our Gold Standard Academy
In 2013, The Banbury Therapy Centre embarked on a plan to develop a gold standard counselling acadamy, here in Oxfordshire. Year by year we have built our curriculum to span the full 4 years of training and now our pioneer group of students who started with us at the beginning graduated in June 2017 as fully qualified counsellors. We are enormously proud of their achievements .
It is our intention to continue to develop and nurture the next generation of counsellors and psychotherapists, as well as adding to the skills of those working in the helping professions. Last year, 2017, our students achieved 100% success rate on levels 2, 3 and 4. Our accrediting body is the excellent CPCAB and we follow their proven successful model. The CPCAB has provided counselling qualifications for 20 years and so helped to change countless lives for the better
We are committed to the principle of inclusivity and encourage people from our entire community to enrol on our courses. For this reason we offer short term payment plans and some longer term payment plans for people who have limited financial resources. We also offer a very few bursary places. These places, while not complimentary, represent a considerably reduced fee. If you are on a low income please indicate your interest in financial assistance on your course application form and attach evidence of your income and any benefits you receive. Please note that any financial assistance is kept in strict confidence and applications are considered on a first come first served basis. Financial arrangements will be agreed at the interview stage.
The Banbury Therapy Group
Our parent company The Banbury Therapy Group, has served the local community with counselling and psychotherapy for the last 9 years. As a student you will be immersed in a therapeutic environment and have access to the resources available. You can find out more about The Banbury Group by clicking the link. Unlike other courses which prioritise the profit they make, we limit our groups to a maximum of 12 participants which we deem to be the optimum group number for learning while at the same time being a safe size to explore personal development issues.
In April 2015 we opened our specially designed training venue near Banbury Cross. As our counselling courses gain in popularity, we need to accommodate an increasing number of students. Our refurbished premises at 18a South Bar provide a space which encourages creativity and a mutually supportive environment Our Academy is ideal for this very specific type of training and in stark contrast to traditional college classrooms which are not designed to give the privacy or comfort that create the conditions necessary for a therapeutic connection.
Contact The Banbury Therapy Centre on 01295 231320 or email Sue Lewis (Level 4) or Rachel Young (Levels 2 and 3), to discuss your intention to study counselling and find out which course is best for you. Once you’ve decided on a qualification, we can discuss with you how your previous qualifications and experience may affect your course entry requirements. We run Levels 2, 3 and 4 in Banbury. Levels 2 and 3 (or their equivalents) are essential requirements for those wishing to enrol on the Level 4 and the Open University Foundation Degree in Counselling.
