Facilitation and Training with Rachel Young

For many the idea of working with groups is daunting, and yet much of our learning and development is enhanced with this style of working. Being comfortable with group work will allow you to enhance and enlarge your own practice and scope of experience. This successful 2 day course has been developed to give you a grounding and some practical experience of effectively working with groups. You could use these skills to set up a peer group, supervision or any support or learning group. This will not qualify you to be a group therapist, but it will allow you to work in a safe and therapeutic space with others.

After day 1 you will:

  • Understand some fundamental theory about groups and systems

  • Understand the stages of group development and how to work with them

  • Have some basic group facilitation skills

After day 2 you will:

  • Have the tools to initiate and hold a group safely

  • Appreciate the flow of power dynamics in a group

  • Have experienced leading and supporting a process group of your peers.

Rachel Young trained in Group Therapy with the Gestalt Centre gaining a Higher Diploma in Gestalt Group Therapy Theory and Practice and is highly experienced at working with groups in therapeutic and training settings, including running 12 and 6-week full time addiction treatment programmes in Bullingdon Prison from 2006 to 2009 and as a Tutor delivering Counselling Training up to Diploma Level at BCA since 2011.
