RACHEL YOUNG

Counsellor, Psychotherapist

and Clinical Supervisor

I am a counselor, psychotherapist, supervisor and counselling tutor with many years’ experience. I am a director of the Banbury Therapy Group which I founded with my husband in 2009.

My original training was with Oxford and Cherwell College where I graduated with a Diploma in Integrative Counselling in 2006. I then went on to further train in Group and Individual Gestalt Psychotherapy at the Gestalt Centre in London. Since then I have worked with a wide variety of clients in the community and in private practice. My training and experience give me the capacity to work at depth with a broad range of issues, life situations and mental health needs. I have worked with people struggling with depression and anxiety, relationship issues, low self-esteem, personality disorders and overwhelming fears. I am particularly knowledgeable about addictive and compulsive behaviours, including alcoholism, drug dependency, eating disorders, gambling, sex, pornography and internet addiction.

Professional Membership

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). This ensures that I practice safely and ethically in my client’s best interests.

My Work

I want to get to know you and what makes you tick. My goal is that you gain insight and awareness of your own personality. In our sessions you will have time and space to examine your life, relationships, feelings, history and possible futures, without pressure or expectations. My experience has been time and again, that people gain clarity and direction for the future when they allow themselves to thoroughly explore what is going on for them in their lives right now. I believe in personal autonomy and my purpose is to provide a temporary support for your growth and development so that you can become a stronger, more insightful and independent version of yourself.

Why Come to Counselling?

Many things might trigger a decision to come to counselling, it might be a life event, such as a bereavement, relationship break-down, change of job or geographical move, or it might be something that has been growing inside over time, troubling behaviours or feelings that skilled support to examine might help to clarify or resolve.

How Long Will Counselling Take?

Sessions will take place at the same time every week. I contract with my clients for an initial period of 6 sessions, which we review together to decide if more sessions are required.

How Much Will Counselling Cost?

I charge £65 per 50-minute session. If you are on a low income or experiencing temporary financial difficulties, please do have a conversation with me as I have some low-cost places available. Contactless payment is available.
